Bio

Mr. DeSanto has been a practitioner of Songahm Taekwondo for over 21 years. His training began in 1993 in a recreation center in Cape Canaveral Florida. By 1996 he had achieved the rank of first degree black belt and in 1997 was awarded black belt of the year in region 104.

While training for 2nd and 3rd degree black belt Mr. DeSanto also began ATA’s (American Taekwondo Association) certified instructor training. After 300 hours of supervised instruction, training camps, certification courses, and his instructor’s guidance he became a certified instructor in 2004.

In 2007 at 18 years of age, Mr. DeSanto began working full time as a martial arts instructor. The school is located in Titusville, Florida and is still open to this day. In 2009 Mr. DeSanto had an opportunity to manage a school in Miami Florida. In Mid 2009 he made the move and successfully ran the school as the Chief Instructor until 2013. While in Miami Mr. DeSanto completed the requirements for 5th degree black belt and passed his testing in June 2010. In 2011 he became a member of the USA sparring team. As a team member he traveled to Paraguay, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and around the USA competing (Competition results below). His final year in Miami Mr. DeSanto was presented with the Songahm special merit award for region 104. This was a great honor and is only awarded to one person each year.

Presently Mr. DeSanto lives and works in Tucson, Arizona. He made the move in January 2014 to cofound M.Y. Martial Arts with Senior Master Latherow and to open his first martial arts school of his own. That school officially opened on November 15, 2015. He is an ATA certified instructor, national judge, state, district, Pan American, and world champion! His next goal is to create a new generation of healthy and successful M.Y.
